The Atlantis cross body bag was named after the myth of the lost city of Atlantis.
The hand cut scallop design detail used on the front of this leather bag was inspired by the Art Deco movement of the 1920s.
A quick little background on the art movement:
The Art Deco ethos diverged from the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts styles, which emphasized the uniqueness and originality of handmade objects and featured stylized, organic forms.
Art Deco was a pastiche of many different styles, sometimes contradictory, united by a desire to be modern. From its outset, Art Deco was influenced by the bold geometric forms of Cubism; the bright colors of Fauvism and the exotic styles of China and Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt and Maya art.
By combining different leather colours and textures The Atlantis takes on a beautiful life of its own. Each colour combination used is limited to a handful of bags which ensures the uniqueness of your purchase.
